Kokkino Spiti (it means “Red House” in Greek) is a mansion of rare beauty and unique architectural elements, situated in the old Jewish district of Veria. Like most houses in the neighborhood, it was built during the 19th century, probably around 1840-1860. Its first owners were Perresh Haim Kamhi and Joseph Haim Kamhi. Afterwards, it was Asher Samel Mardochai (carpenter), Ruben Manuel Mordochai (shoemanker), both residents of Veria, together with Abraham Ruben Manuel (businessman), resident of Thessaloniki, that inherited the house, which was inhabited until 1943. At that moment, the house had to be abandoned due to the German Occupation in Greece. On the 25th of September 1950, Efstratios Seplesis (farmer) bought the house and lived there with his family up until 1980. Uninhabited ever since, the house started to collapse and it suffered serious damages… In love with the past, the history of the place and with a particular interest in the preservation of its cultural heritage, Christos Sioukiouroglou, a doctor and resident of Veria, decided to buy the house from its 8 heirs (a task that was by no means easy) and together with his wife, Anastasia Grigoriadou, they managed to restore its lost glory and they transformed it into the first boutique hotel of Veria (after having waited for 8 years in order to get the much-coveted construction permit, another obstacle to overcome)! They were inspired from the history and the grandeur of the house and they designed all its rooms in order to highlight its urban and aristocratic character. The old and colorful stained glass windows were preserved, characteristic feature of the wealthy Jewish houses of the district, and the new doors of the rooms were the exact copies of the original ones. What strikes visitors is the door of the “kalos ondas” of the house, which has bigger dimensions than all the other ones, with many wooden decorative boards, carved flowers at the center and broad carved details at the edges. Chestnut wood dating up to 200 hundred years was reused and all the stone setting was preserved with additional reinforcements where necessary. All rooms are defined by a discreet yet luxurious finesse and of great beauty. Original and genuine materials were used, classic furniture from famous firms and antiques were bought, hand-made, painted wardrobes and Florentine sconces were chosen to underline the beauty of the house, whereas wooden ceilings and floors and local stone were used to preserve its authenticity. “Kokkino Spiti” has been brought back to life! It regained its previous glory and it thrives with our love!

Το Κόκκινο Σπίτι είναι ένα αρχοντικό σπάνιας ομορφιάς και ιδιαίτερων αρχιτεκτονικών στοιχείων, στην παλιά Εβραϊκή συνοικία της Βέροιας . Κτίστηκε τον 19ο αιώνα, γύρω στο 1840 με 1860, όπως τα περισσότερα σπίτια της συνοικίας. Πρώτοι ιδιοκτήτες του ήταν οι Περρές Χαϊμ Καμχί και Γιοσέφ Χαϊμ Καμχί. Στην συνέχεια το σπίτι κληρονόμησαν οι Ασσέρ Σαμουέλ Μαρδοχάι ( ξυλουργός), Ρουμπέν Μανουέλ Μορδοχάι (υποδηματοποιός) κάτοικοι Βέροιας και Αβραάμ Ρουμπέν Μανουέλ (επιχειρηματίας) κάτοικος Θεσσαλονίκης. Το σπίτι κατοικούνταν μέχρι το 1943, οπότε και εγκαταλείφτηκε αναγκαστικά, κατά την περίοδο της Κατοχής. Στις 25/09/1950 το σπίτι αγοράστηκε από τον Ευστράτιο Σελπέση (γεωργό) , ο οποίος το κατοίκησε με την οικογένειά του μέχρι τις αρχές του 1980. Έκτοτε ακατοίκητο, άρχισε να καταρρέει, να καταστρέφεται, να χάνεται… Ο Βεροιώτης ιατρός Χρήστος Σιουκιούρογλου, έχοντας ιδιαίτερη αγάπη για τα παλιά,την ιστορία του τόπου και την διατήρηση της πολιτιστικής μας κληρονομιάς,αποφάσισε να το αγοράσει από τους οκτώ πλέον κληρονόμους (πράξη καθόλου εύκολη ομολογουμένως) και μαζί με την σύζυγό του Αναστασία Γρηγοριάδου –μαθηματικό-  το αποκατέστησαν αφού κατάφεραν να πάρουν την πολυπόθητη άδεια μετά από οκτώ χρόνια, (πράξη επίσης καθόλου εύκολη…) και το μετέτρεψαν στο πρώτο boutique ξενοδοχείο της πόλης! Εμπνεύστηκαν από την ιστορικότητα και την αρχοντιά του σπιτιού και σχεδίασαν όλους τους χώρους του ώστε να ανταποκρίνονται στον αστικό και αριστοκρατικό του χαρακτήρα. Επαναχρησιμοποιήθηκε το παλιό τζαμιλίκι με τα χρωματιστά βιτρό, στοιχείο χαρακτηριστικό των πλούσιων εβραϊκών σπιτιών της συνοικίας, και οι πόρτες των δωματίων έγιναν πιστή αντιγραφή των παλιών. Ιδιαίτερη εντύπωση κάνει η πόρτα του ‘’καλού οντά’’ του σπιτιού, που είναι μεγαλύτερη από τις υπόλοιπες, σε ύψος και φάρδος, με πολλούς νταμπλάδες , σκάλισμα λουλουδιού στο κέντρο και πλούσια σκαλιστά φαρδιά μπασκιά. Χοντρές καστανιές 200 περίπου χρόνων επαναχρησιμοποιήθηκαν. Όλη η πέτρινη λιθοδομή διατηρήθηκε, ενισχύοντας και συμπληρώνοντας όπου χρειαζόταν. Όλα τα δωμάτια χαρακτηρίζονται από μια διακριτική φινέτσα πολυτέλειας και υψηλής αισθητικής. Επιλέχθηκαν γνήσια και αυθεντικά υλικά. Κλασικά έπιπλα από επώνυμους οίκους και αντίκες. Χειροποίητες ζωγραφιστές ντουλάπες και φλωρεντιανές απλίκες πλαισιώνουν τον χώρο. Ξύλινα ταβάνια και πατώματα. Τοπική πέτρα. Το ‘’Κόκκινο Σπίτι’’ ζωντάνεψε και πάλι!Απέκτησε ξανά την αίγλη που είχε και με την αγάπη όλων μας, ανθίζει!

Kokkino Spiti («La Maison Rouge» en grecque) est un manoir d’une rare beauté et des éléments architecturaux uniques, situé dans le vieux quartier juif de Veria. Elle a été construite pendant le 19ème siècle, probablement entre 1840-1860, tout comme la plupart de maisons du quartier. Ses premiers propriétaires étaient Perresh Haim Kamhi et Joseph Haim Kamhi. Ensuite, la maison a passé aux mains de Asher Samel Mardochai, menuisier, Ruben Manuel Mordochai, cordonnier, tous les deux résidents de Veria, et Abraham Ruben Manuel, homme d’affaires, résident de Thessalonique. La maison a été habitée jusqu’en 1943, quand elle devait être abandonnée à cause de l’Occupation Allemande. Le 25 septembre 1950, Efstratios Seplesis, agriculteur, achète la maison et il y habite avec sa famille jusqu’en 1980. Dorénavant inhabitée, la maison a commencé à s’effondrer et elle a subit de très graves dommages … Amoureux du passé, de l’histoire de l’endroit et ayant une préoccupation particulière par rapport à la préservation du patrimoine culturel de la maison, Christos Sioukiouroglou, médecin et resident de Veria a décidé d’acheter la maison de ses huit héritiers (une tâche qui s’est avérée très difficile) et avec sa femme, Anastasia Grigoriadou, ils ont réussi à restaurer sa gloire passée et l’ont transformée en hôtel-boutique, le premier de ce type à Veria (ayant toutefois surpassé l’obstacle d’une attente de huit ans pour obtenir le permis de construction – tant convoité- ). Ils ont été inspirés de l’histoire et la grandeur de la maison et ils ont conçu toutes ses pièces d’une telle manière que son identité aristocratique ainsi que son charme urbain soient mis en valeur. Les anciens vitraux colorés ont été conservés, trait caractéristique de la richesse des maisons juives du quartier, et les nouvelles portes des chambres ont été des copies exactes des originales. Ce qu’admirent les visiteurs, c’est la porte de « kalos ondas » de la maison qui est la plus grande de toutes et qui a des panneaux décoratifs en bois, des fleurs sculptées à son centre, ainsi que d’ amples détails gravés sur les bords. Le bois de châtaignier datant d’au moins 200 ans a été réutilisé et le pavage en pierre a été conservé avec des renforts supplémentaires là où c’était nécessaire. Toutes les chambres se caractérisent d’une finesse discrète et luxueuse à la fois et d’une grande beauté. Des matériaux d’origine ont été utilisés, des meubles classiques des marques réputées ainsi que des antiques ont été achetés, des penderies peintes à la main et des appliques de Florence ont été utilisées pour mettre en valeur la beauté de la maison, tandis que les sols et les plafonds en bois ont été préservés et, en même temps, on a utilisé de la pierre locale afin de souligner son authenticité. « Kokkino Spiti » a été ramenée à la vie! Elle a retrouvé sa gloire passée et elle s’épanouit grâce à notre amour!

זה מביא אותנו לסיפור של מלון “קוקינו ספיטי” (בית אדום) – .Kokkino Spiti Boutique Hotel מבנה עם יופי נדיר ואלמנטים אדריכליים ייחודיים, השוכן ברובע היהודי הישן של ווריה. כמו רוב הבתים בשכונה, הוא נבנה במאה ה -19, כנראה בסביבות 1840-1860. הבעלים הראשונים היו פרש פרץ חיים קמחי ויוסף חיים קמחי. לאחר מכן היה זה אשר סאמל ((Samel מרדכי (נגר) ורובן מנואל מרדכי (סנדלר), שניהם תושבי ווריה, יחד עם אברהם רובן מנואל (איש עסקים), תושב סלוניקי, שירש את הבית, שהיה מיושב עד 1943. בעת ההיא נאלצו לנטוש אותו בגלל הכיבוש הגרמני ביוון. ב -25 בספטמבר 1950, Efstratios Seplesis (חקלאי) קנה את הבית וחי שם עם משפחתו עד 1980. מאז הבית לא אוכלס. עם הזמן, הבית הנטוש נפגע קשה והתחיל להתמוטט… מאוהב בעבר, בהיסטוריה של המקום ומתוך עניין מיוחד בשימור המורשת התרבותית של המקום, החליט כריסטוס סיוקיאורוגלו, רופא ותושב ווריה, לקנות את הבית מ – 8 יורשיו (משימה שלא הייתה קלה כלל ועיקר). יחד עם אשתו אנסטסיה גריגוריאדו, הם הצליחו לשחזר את תהילתו האבודה והפכו אותו למלון הבוטיק הראשון של Veria (לאחר שחיכו 8 שנים כדי לקבל את היתר הבנייה הנחשק, מכשול נוסף עליו היו צריכים להתגבר)! בהשראת העבר והיסטוריה והפאר של הבית, הם מעצבים כל החדרים באופן שמדגיש את אופיו העירוני והאריסטוקרטי. חלונות הזכוכית הישנים והצבעוניים השתמרו, פריט אופייני של בתי היהודים העשירים במחוז, והדלתות החדשות של החדרים הם העתקים מדויקים של המקוריים. מה שמרשים את מבקרים היא הדלת של “kalos ondas” (החדר המועדף מבחינת מיקום, גודל והמראות הנשקפים ממנו) של הבית, הדלת בעלת ממדים הגדולים יותר מכל הדלתות האחרות, עטורה לוחות עץ דקורטיביים, פרחים מגולפים במרכז ופרטים מגולפים רחבים בקצוות. כאן, נעשה שימוש חוזר בעץ ערמון המתוארך עד 200 שנה, וגם גדרות האבן השתמרו להם נוספו חיזוקים שנעשו ככל הנדרש ועפ”י הצורך. כל החדרים מעוצבים בתבונה ובעדינות משולבים בפאר ויופי נהדר מקורי ואמיתי. רהיטים קלאסיים מחברות ועתיקות מפורסמים נקנו בעבודת יד, ארונות צבועים ופמוטים פלורנטין נבחרו כדי להדגיש את יופיו של הבית, ואילו תקרות עץ ורצפות ואבן מקומית שימשו לשמר את האותנטיות שלו. “Kokkino Spiti” הובא לחיים! היא חזרה לתהילה הקודמת שלה והיא משגשגת באהבתנו! להיות חלק מההיסטוריה שלה!
